What is TRI-101?

TRI-101 is a program for beginner, novice, or intermediate athletes looking to achieve a triathlon fitness goal.

Whether you swim once a week, or haven't swam in years (or ever), this program creates the environment for like-minded athletes to train and learn together.

Like any new sport, there is a learning curve that is best followed with others, experiencing the same things as you.  There are sport specific skills to learn, common injuries that you need to prevent, and nutrition requirements to understand. TRI 101 helps you to navigate through the early experiences of a triathlete.

Ultimately, the TRI-101 program prepares you for our annual sprint-distance triathlon, Tri The Rock.

POWERADE TRI THE ROCK in 2010 will be entering its fifth year as part of the Upstate YMCA Triathlon Series hosted race events, and whether you did 1 (POWERADE Tri The Rock - naturally), 3 6 or all 7 Triathlons in the series (or maybe even a few out of the series too), it was a fantastic way keep your body aiming towards great health. 2010 will be even better! There is already a Triathlon scheduled in June at the Fort Mill Baxter YMCA and a kid's Triathlon in conjunction with the Tri the Rock in May 2010 and don't forget the Assault on Cherokee in August!

But I'm not a triathlete...
That's why TRI-101 exists.  Traditionally, triathletes begin their love of the sport by participating in a program like this.
It is during a program like this that previous nontriathletes realize how fun the multisport can be.
