What is TRI-101?

TRI-101 is a program for beginner, novice, or intermediate athletes looking to achieve a triathlon fitness goal.

Whether you swim once a week, or haven't swam in years, this program creates the environment for like-minded athletes to train and learn together.

Like any new sport, there is a learning curve that is best followed with others, experiencing the same things as you.  There are sport specific skills to learn, there common

injuries that you need to prevent, and there are nutrition requirements to understand.

TRI 101 helps you to navigate through the early experiences of a triathlete.

Ultimately, the TRI-101 program prepares you for our annual sprint-distance triathlon, Tri The Rock.

POWERADE TRI THE ROCK is now entering its third year as part of the Upstate YMCA Sprint Triathlon Series.  2009 brings 7 race events, and whether you do 1 (POWERADE Tri The Rock - naturally), 3 6 or all 7 Sprint Triathlons in the series (or maybe even a few out of the series too), it is a fantastic way keep your body aiming towards great health.

But I'm not a triathlete...
That's why TRI-101 exists.  Traditionally, triathletes begin their love of the sport by participating in a program like this.  It is during this program that triathletes realize how fun the sport can be.
