COACHES

Jim Martin - Director, Run & Head Coach, Race Director

Jim is the Director, Track (run) Workout and Head Coach for The Rock Tri Club - he also started the tri club three years ago after moving back from Dallas, TX where he was a member of Dallas Athletes, a Dallas Tri Club. An avid sports enthusiast and athlete for most his life -baseball, football, and wrestling - he enjoys triathlons because of the personal challenge and goal achievement gain. An ardent cyclist, Jim loves to get out and ride bumpy roads (yeah right - that's Rick) and the colder the better (he has a 60F degree rule)... If you need to know where to get equipment or gear or a question on fitness, Jim will have an answer for you. Jim is also our Race Director for Powerade Tri the Rock now in its 3rd year.

Rick Anderson - Cycle Coach

I have been involved with competitive cycling for 20+ years. I have raced road, mountain, and track. I started competing in duathlons and triathlons 4 years ago for a new challenge. I continue to participate in these sports because I enjoy the camaraderie, fun, and fitness benefits of an active lifestyle.

Bobby Baker - Swim Coach
AKA - The Swim Whisperer... Data to be filled in soon... or maybe not as he won't send it to me...

Amanda Masters - Strength & Flexibility Coach

Amanda is one of the original organizers and has been on the coaching staff with Tri the Rock since its inception. She is a nationally certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Presenter for International Sports Conditioning Association. She also holds certifications in Group Fitness Training, Pilates, YogaBall, Kickboxing, Water Aerobics, and Spinning©.
She currently teaches group fitness classes and works with clients to obtain their fitness goals at the Charlotte Avenue YMCA (Rock Hill), Gold Hill YMCA (Fort Mill), Steele Creek YMCA (Charlotte), Springfield Golf & Tennis (Fort Mill), and through personal in-home appointments.
She enjoys running 5K, 10K, 10-milers, and 1/2 marathons, as well as participates yearly in the 150 mile and century bike rides for her favorite Diabetes research charities. She admits swimming is by far her most challenging aspect of the tri sport.

Stan Stuart - Skills Assessment Coach

Stan is a USAT certified coach and active triathlete.  In addition to being a pretty nice guy and a great go-to for all types of tri questions, he will provide TRI-101 with the extra coaching support - beyond what the event coaches provide - to ensure everyone learns what they need from TRI-101.  Stan is a strong asset as he is very supportive of a growing tri community in Rock Hill.
